A new strain of flu stretching across Texas has doctors and officials concerned. Media reports on Monday indicate a so called Type B strain is spreading quickly. Public health officials report doctor are seeing more Type B and less Type A flu in recent days. An official with the Texas Department of State Health Services told media that although the over number of people seeking treatment has dropped in recent days, the total is still higher than it was at the peak of the two previous outbreaks.
Earlier in the month, a Texas special education teacher was on life support, related to complications after she contracted two strains of influenza. Additional report released indicate Brian Herndon, 51, a resident of Texas recently required amputation of nine fingers and both of his legs, following complications from influenza. Herndon originally developed a low grade fever in early January.
